Ibsham Bhatra

I'm a 17-year-old high school senior at a private school in Boston, drawn to biotechnology for the unique blend of challenges it offers. That curiosity has led me into hands-on research and many related activities.

Outside research, I like to build things and give back. I founded BrightGenerations, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit offering free tutoring to children from immigrant and refugee families, and I teach martial arts and Arabic to younger students. I compete as a swimmer and a 2nd-degree black belt in taekwondo, and I've performed piano at Carnegie Hall.

When I'm not in school, photography is one of my favorite pastimes. It gives me a chance to capture a wide range of experiences and you will find that each photo tells a distinctive story frozen in time.
